Combine melted butter, olive oil and spices. Pour sauce over bread. Gently combine until the bread is coated. On a greased cookie sheet or parchment paper spread bread evenly into a single layer.
¼ cup Olive Oil, ¼ cup Butter, 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning, 1 teaspoon Black Pepper, ½ teaspoon Salt, 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder, pinch Cayenne Pepper
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes turning the bread half way through.
Serve homemade croutons with your favorite salad, soup or casserole.
Notes
The spice blend for these croutons can easily be adapted depending on the recipe you plan to pair up with these croutons. For a southwest casserole, I would use ½ tsp cumin and ½ tsp chili powder instead of the Italian seasoning.
