Here in Kansas City, we’re crazy about tacos and BBQ, and this heavenly match-up combines the best of both worlds. My BBQ Pork Pizza inspired these tacos. That pizza has a delicious sauce, and honestly, I’ve been looking for an excuse to use that special sauce in a new recipe. It’s so darn good!
While pulled pork tacos are fantastic, they can be a bit of a process. Instead, I use ground pork with BBQ seasoning and that same irresistible sauceโit’s absolutely delicious! With this taco recipe, you can have dinner on the table in just 15 minutes!
If you make these tacos, please be sure to leave a comment and star rating. I can’t wait to hear what you think!
Ground Pork – Ground chicken, ground beef, or ground turkey would all be great substitutes.
BBQ Seasoning – Use your favorite store brand or make my homemade blend; it’s so good on wings, chicken breasts, ribs, and salmon.
Tortillas – Use either soft taco shells or corn tortillas.
BBQ Sauce & Ranch Dressing – These two together make the simple, special sauce that is so yummy.
Toppings – I use Cilantro, slaw, lime, onion, and cheese. Customize the tacos with what your family loves.
How to make Pork BBQ Tacos
Step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Step 2: Add the BBQ seasoning and water to the cooked pork. Stir well to combine, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 3: In a small bowl, mix the BBQ sauce and the ranch dressing until well combined.
Step 4: Place a generous spoonful of the BBQ-seasoned pork onto each tortilla. Drizzle each taco with about one tablespoon of sauce.
Step 5: Top with diced onion, cheese, and chopped cilantro. Serve immediately.
Ground Pork Taco Tips
- Warm your tortillas before serving. You can do this in a dry skillet, on a griddle, or directly over a gas flame for a slight char. Depending on your preference, use soft corn or flour tortillas.
- Fresh, crunchy toppings complement the rich, savory pork. Consider adding shredded cabbage or lettuce, diced onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Pickled onions or jalapeรฑos add a tangy kick that pairs well with the BBQ flavors.
- Pair with a side of Mexican rice, beans, or a fresh salad.
- The ground pork mixture can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
Storage
Leftover taco meat can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or in the freezer for 3 months.

Great!
Great taco recipe. After completing a long, frustrating cabinet painting project in Roanoke, I was able to show off my awesome new kitchen to some friends. One of them brought these tacos and I have to say, they are to die for.
