Ingredients to make Oreo cookie dough

  • Softened Butter – I know itโ€™s not the norm, but I use salted butter for everything, even cookies.
  • Brown Sugar & Granulated Sugar
  • Vanilla Bean Paste – This is a fantastic shortcut to getting that rich vanilla flavor without the hassle of scraping a vanilla bean. I love the taste, but feel free to use vanilla extract if you prefer.
  • Milk – This is my mother-in-law’s secret ingredient for producing a soft and chewy cookie.
  • Flour, Baking Soda, and Salt
  • Oreo Cookies – You can use regular or double-stuffed Oreo cookies.
  • Chocolate Chips

Step 6: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.

Step 8: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Storing and freezing

Once the cookies have cooled completely, store them in an airtight container. They can be stored at room temperature for up to a week.

Freezer

If you want to keep the cookies for longer, you can freeze them. Store them in an airtight container for up to three months. Thaw the cookies on the counter for about 30 minutes before eating, or if you can’t wait, go ahead and eat them frozen!

Recipe tips

Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature before you start.

Crush Oreos: Crush the Oreos into chunks, not crumbs. You’ll really be able to taste the sandwich cookies if you leave them in bigger pieces.

Don’t overmix: When adding the dry ingredients, mix just until combined to ensure your cookies turn out tender.
