I love serving a signature drink when having company—it adds that extra special touch to any gathering. While whipping up homemade lemonade for the kids, I started brainstorming something unique for the adults. With blueberries on sale, I had a lightbulb moment: a fresh blueberry puree combined with vodka and lemonade. It’s incredibly refreshing, and don’t worry—this puree is a breeze to make in your blender in less than 5 minutes.

One of my absolute favorites to serve is this Tequila Gimlet. Who knew I was such a tequila girl? Turns out I’m all in! Curious about more drink ideas? Check out all of my cocktail recipes here.

Blueberry Vodka Lemonade Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients to make a blueberry lemonade cocktail.
  • Blueberry Puree – Make this homemade recipe, or you can also find it pre-made at your local grocery store. This homemade blueberry syrup is delicious on buttermilk pancakes.
  • Vodka – Any type of vodka will work. I haven’t tried the recipe with any flavored vodka.
  • Lemonade Wedge – Use my homemade lemonade recipe or your favorite brand from the grocery store.
  • Garnish – With a fresh lemon slices, blueberries, and sprig of fresh mint leaves. Either fresh lemon juice or lime juice brightens up the cocktail.
  • Optional – Add 1/2 ounce of blueberry simple syrup if you like a sweet drink.

What is blueberry puree?

Blueberry purée is a mashed or blended pulp made with fresh blueberries. Use a food processor or blender to make the puree. Fresh or frozen blueberries can be used, but it is recommended to use thawed berries.

How to make a blueberry vodka lemonade with step-by-step directions

Step 1: Make the blueberry puree. Add 2 cups of fresh blueberries, 1/8 cup of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth. Store leftover puree in a mason jar for up to 4 days in the refrigerator. Add lemon juice or water if the puree becomes too thick. Frozen blueberries can be substituted for fresh.

Step 2: Mix the cocktail. Add pureed blueberries, vodka, lemonade, and a mint sprig to a cocktail shaker. Shake or stir until well combined.

Step 3: Garnish. Pour the cocktail over ice and garnish with lemon, blueberries, and mint.

Cocktail variations

  • Switch Up the Spirits: Experiment with different liquors like tequila, rum, or whiskey to craft unique blueberry cocktails that cater to your taste.
  • Herb Swap: No mint on hand? No problem! Fresh basil leaves make a delightful alternative, adding a subtle twist to the drink.
  • Make It a Mocktail: For a non-alcoholic version, simply skip the vodka and add extra lemonade. It’s just as refreshing and perfect for all ages.
  • Add Some Fizzy Fun: Give your drink a bubbly lift with a splash of club soda for a crisp, effervescent finish.
  • Double Down on Blueberry Flavor: Intensify the blueberry goodness by using blueberry-infused vodka for an extra punch of fruity flavor.
  • Try a Blueberry Smash: For a rustic twist, skip the puree and muddle fresh blueberries directly into the cocktail, creating a deliciously textured drink.
  • Explore New Purees: This vodka cocktail is incredibly versatile—try it with peach, mango, or any other fresh fruit puree that catches your eye for a delightful variation.
  • Simple Syrup – Make a blueberry simple syrup and create a blueberry martini. There are so many blueberry vodka cocktails to try!

Make a pitcher ahead of the party

Hosting a Party or Happy Hour? Whip up a large pitcher of Blueberry Vodka Lemonade ahead of time, so you can kick back and enjoy the festivities with your guests.

Simply multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need, mix everything in a pitcher, and let it chill in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
