This Classic Wedge Salad is a crisp, colorful salad with a little twist. It starts with iceberg lettuce then is topped with blue cheese dressing and blue cheese crumbles, cherry tomatoes, bacon, and green onions.
A wedge salad looks "fancy" but it takes little effort to make and is a really great start to a healthy family meal.
My Steakhouse Blue Cheese Dressing is perfect with this classic wedge.

HOW TO CUT THE LETTUCE FOR A WEDGE SALAD
Start by washing the lettuce with cold water. Drain any excess water and remove the outer leaves of the lettuce head. Cut the lettuce in half from the stem. Next, remove the stem and cut each half again, making four quarters or even one more time for six servings.

SIMPLE INGREDIENTS

- Crisp Iceberg Lettuce - You'll want to start with a whole head of lettuce.
- Crumbled Crispy Bacon - It's best to use a thick cut bacon, not imitation bacon bits.
- Cherry Tomatoes - Juicy tomatoes are not actually traditional on a wedge salad, but I love the color and flavor they bring.
- Green Onions
- Blue Cheese Chunks
- Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing - Use your favorite brand or try my homemade dressing.
SUBSTITUTIONS AND VARIATIONS FOR A CRISP WEDGE SALAD
The classic toppings for a wedge salad are crisp bacon, blue cheese crumbles, and blue cheese dressing. However, each wedge of lettuce is entirely customizable.
Here are a few suggestions:
Vegetables: Add different vegetables such as cucumber, julienne carrots, or chopped red bell peppers.
Crunchy Croutons can be added to give crunch.
Dressing: If you're not a fan of Blue Cheese, you can substitute just about any type of dressing including my Simple Lemon Vinaigrette or this easy honey mustard dressing.
Proteins: You can also add in some protein such as chicken, salmon or hard boiled eggs.
Black Pepper - Fresh cracked black pepper is a great addition to these lettuce wedges.

What a delicious salad. I will only adapt this and swop out the blue cheese and blue cheese dressing as I have never been able to enjoy it, but I am sure something else should also work.
