As a little girl, I loved making milkshakes with my grandma. She kept it simple, just a metal mixing bowl and a few ingredients, but somehow, they always tasted like magic.

Strawberry milkshakes have always held a special place in my heart, and now I love making them for my family. It’s such a fun (and delicious!) way to make new memories. Lately, this Oreo shake has become a new favorite around here too — it’s a close second!

Recipe Notes

Oops, I forgot the milk in this picture! You’re going to need milk!

  • Strawberries: You can use fresh or frozen fruit.
  • Banana: This is a strawberry banana shake, but feel free to skip the banana and still enjoy this delicious treat!
  • Ice Cream: I used vanilla ice cream to let the strawberries shine with their flavor, but you can simplify it by using strawberry ice cream and milk for an easy two-ingredient milkshake.

How to make a strawberry shake with banana

Ingredients in a blender to make a strawberry shake.

Step 1: Add ice cream, milk, strawberries, and banana to a blender.

Step 2: Serve with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Tips for making the perfect milkshake:

  • Use frozen fruit for a thicker, creamier texture.
  • Ripe bananas = more sweetness — frozen banana works great too!
  • Choose good vanilla ice cream for that rich, classic flavor.
  • Too thick? Just add a splash of milk until it blends easily.
  • Serve right away for the best taste and texture.
  • Want a little extra flavor? Add a splash of vanilla extract.
  • Top it off with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry!

Storage

If you have leftovers, pour the shake into an airtight container and pop it in the freezer. When you’re ready to enjoy it again, let it sit at room temperature for a bit to soften. If it’s too thick, just blend or stir in a splash of milk to loosen it up.
