Why I love this decadent Almond Joy Martini Recipe
Growing up, the almond joy was my least favorite candy bar. It was always the last option out of my Halloween candy, and I was always trying to trade them with my friends.
Fast forward to adulthood; this candy bar is in my top 5! Come on, coconut, chocolate, and almond are so good!
Also, as an adult, I love creating fun cocktails to share with friends and family. Enjoy this decadent martini to start the evening or finish it; it’s delicious!
Ingredients
- Vodka – Provides a neutral base and adds a bit of extra strength to the drink.
- Coconut-Flavored Rum – Adds a tropical and creamy coconut flavor.
- Amaretto – Adds a nutty sweetness.
- Creme de Cacao – You can substitute chocolate vodka instead of the Creme de Cacao and vodka.
- Light Cream – Creates a luxurious texture and works to balance all of the flavors.
- Garnish: Coconut and chocolate sauce.
Step-by-step directions for making an Almond Joy Martini recipe
- Prepare the martini glass by dipping the rim in chocolate syrup, then rolling it in shredded coconut to create a coconut rim. Set the glass aside. You can have fun drizzling a little extra chocolate inside the glass.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Add amaretto liqueur, vodka, coconut rum, Creme de Cacao, and half and half.
- Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to thoroughly mix and chill the ingredients.
- Open the shaker and strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass, not disturbing the coconut rim.
- Optionally, drizzle some additional chocolate syrup on top of the drink for extra sweetness and decoration.
- Garnish the martini with chocolate sprinkles and toasted coconut.
- Serve the Almond Joy Martini immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of almond, coconut, and chocolate flavors.
Frequently asked questions
There are some differences between chocolate liqueur and creme de cacao, but they can be used interchangeably.
It is not necessary to add a coconut rim and chocolate swirl. You’ll enjoy the cocktail either way, but the presentation is well worth the effort.
This is debated, but in my opinion it is best to shake a martini to get consistent result with each martini. Be sure to shake for a good 20 – 30 seconds to be sure the martini is ice cold.
Tips
- You don’t have to stop with coconut flakes and chocolate syrup to garnish. Consider chocolate sprinkles, sliced almonds, and chopped bits of candy bars.
- Send this cocktail over the top by using a chilled martini glass.
